Repower Your Classic with Quicksilver

If you love your classic boat but wish its engines were more reliable, more efficient or more powerful, Quicksilver has a solution: repower your classic with an all-new sterndrive or inboard Quicksilver engine. The repower solution is often more affordable than buying a new boat, and all of the investment in electronics and accessories you’ve made in your boat are preserved. Many cherished boats have been integral to family fun and adventure for many seasons. You can buy a new boat but you can’t replace the memories – a kid’s first fish or first time up on skis, learning to navigate from a grandparent, those romantic sunsets in a cove. It’s easy to become emotionally attached to a family boat. By repowering it, you can keep making new memories while enjoying a craft that performs better than ever.

With sterndrive and inboard engine choices ranging from 135 horsepower to 400 horsepower, Quicksilver offers options to repower almost any classic single- or twin-engine boat. It’s often possible to upgrade both displacement and horsepower with a new Quicksilver engine and to convert from a carburetor to fuel injection. A qualified Quicksilver engine dealer can inspect your boat and offer advice about repower options. The best repower candidates are boats that have been well-maintained and were high quality to start with. The most common roadblock to an easy repower is a bad transom – typically the wood core is waterlogged – and that will be the first point of inspection made by a dealer. Almost any transom can be repaired, however, and most repower dealers have a transom expert on call. Quicksilver engines can also be paired with new Alpha- or Bravo-style outdrives to give sterndrive boats an entirely new powertrain.

Quicksilver engines are all-new, not remanufactured, and are built as marine engines from the bottom up, fitted with US Coast Guard-approved components and corrosion-resistant fasteners, and finished with a durable corrosion-resistant paint process. Rather than source an automotive engine block, Quicksilver starts with a custom block featuring thicker castings for quieter operation and better durability. Cylinder head ports are revised to deliver a smoother idle. Composite stainless steel valves are hardened with an exclusive Black-X plasma Nitriding process designed to reduce valve wear by 42 percent. All fuel system components are compatible with modern fuels. Quicksilver engines are ready to install, complete with an exhaust system and full accessory drive in place. Every Quicksilver engine is backed by a three-year limited warranty.
